Position: Houston 52 Market - Meat Cutter - Part-Time

H-E-B Houston 52 Market – Meat Cutter – Part‑Time

Join the H‑E‑B team as a Meat Cutter. We’re looking for energetic and motivated partners who are willing to work hard and have fun while making our customers feel welcome. If you are eager to help provide a well‑stocked and well‑maintained department and to provide superior customer service, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product on a daily basis while maintaining all department and food safety/sanitation standards.
  • Cut, trim, and bone meat for display or as ordered by customers, according to company standards.
  • Operate electric grinder, saw, knife sharpener, tenderizer, slicer.
  • Weigh, wrap, and label product packages for counter display; rotate product as needed.
  • Rotate product in the meat cooler and ensure proper storage practices.
  • Use MCS technology to generate production lists and track re‑works.
  • Assist customers with product questions and scan items into Telxon for production.
  • Assist in technical areas as needed.
  • Cleans and sanitizes display cases, properly operates and maintains equipment.
  • Complies with H‑E‑B food safety and sanitation standards, department SOPs, store operating procedures and federal/state fresh meat regulations.
  • Provides superior customer service and answers customer questions regarding products.
What is your background?
  • Minimum age 18.
  • 1+ years of related experience and/or training.
  • Completion of power jack training.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Working knowledge of product rotation, department/store sanitation, shrink awareness, MS Outlook (Word, Excel).
  • Completion of the Meat Cutter learning plan and certification by trainer of the Meat Cutter Final Assessment course #001289.
  • Must have completed the meat cutter training and certification within 3 months (external).
  • Meat‑cutting skills (saw, grinder).
  • Customer service and communication skills.
Additional Requirements
  • Function in a fast‑paced, retail environment with detailed and precise tasks.
  • Work with customers, staying attentive to their needs.
  • Lift and carry moderately heavy loads (40–60 lbs).
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pivoting, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, high‑tech chemicals; wet or humid conditions.
  • Occupational requirements: 5.5+ hrs per 8‑hr day continuously, 2.5–5.5 hrs frequently, 0–2.5 hrs occasionally.
