Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the SOC Security Officer provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel, and assets at the assigned job site. This position monitors the access control system and electronic inventory control system, operates the CCTV system, coordinates radio and telephone communications, maintains the shift log and confidential/sensitive documentation, and answers the after‑hours site main number and emergency phone number.

Performs all work in accordance with established safety and operational procedures. The position is a key contributor to the security operations team in the event of a crisis or emergency that would threaten the safe and secure business operations. Verbal communication skills and the ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations are critical. The general responsibilities of the position may include the duties listed below, but the company may identify other duties of the position.

Work schedule is rotational 1x1.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of prior military, law enforcement, corrections, or private security experience; previous experience working at a Security Operation Center (SOC) or in a Dispatch environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic security management applications including Microsoft Office, Video, Access Control, and Alarm Management.
  • Knowledge of communications and dispatch operations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • State Unarmed Security Officer License or ability to obtain one.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, understanding, and writing English.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to interact with all levels of personnel, external agencies, and the general public in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post‑offer physical evaluation.

  • Knowledge of communications and dispatch operations and pertinent security regulations.

  • Ability to remain calm and mitigate high‑stress security situations involving multiple complex operations and large groups of personnel.
  • Ability to understand and operate integrated sensor packages, including audio, video, motion detection, and access control systems.
  • Maturity of judgment and behavior.

  • Respectful communication with all visitors, coworkers, vendors, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representatives.
  • Clear direction and response communication.
  • Basic phone and computer skills (email, texting, two‑way radio, etc.).
  • Works well under pressure and alone and within a team.
Essential Functions
  • Execute post orders, enforce client and company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Provide security‑related customer service and emergency response activities as required.
  • Guard property against damage, fire, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry.
  • Display courteous, respectful, and professional interactions with the public and customers.
  • Perform security/console and emergency response duties in accordance with site‑specific procedures and SOPs.
  • Monitor the client's access control system and control‑center equipment (CCTV, alarms, police scanners, printers, etc.).
  • Monitor CCTV activity and initiate response to site alarms per procedures.
  • Track operating status of all electronic equipment; alert Site Manager of malfunctions.
  • Monitor local and enterprise systems for incidents or threats to company personnel/assets.
  • Manage all emergency calls and dispatch emergency personnel; ensure critical communications as required.
  • Communicate effectively over phone or radio channels.
  • Respond to security incidents and emergency situations calmly and problem‑solving.
  • Complete all required forms, logs, and documentation accurately and timely.
  • Assist management and law‑enforcement officials in emergency situations.
