Security Officer – CHI
Provides the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas to deter, detect and investigate crime and/or any suspicious activity which could cause harm to individuals or property; effectively monitors electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems; and dispatches appropriate personnel via radio.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas, on foot or by vehicle, and provide service and protection.
- Investigate suspicious persons or activity, respond to crimes in progress or that have occurred, disturbances, accidents, and various public service calls.
- Investigate complaints, criminal incidents, suspicious activity and accidents; prepare detailed written incident reports.
- When assigned to dispatch, monitor electronic surveillance equipment to identify suspicious activity and dispatch personnel; operate the base radio station, answer multiple telephone lines for routine and emergency inquiries, maintain logs of radio communications, and tabulate data from logs to produce activity reports.
- Provide general information and assistance to patients, visitors and employees, including safety‑related escorts to various campus locations.
- Collaborate with department personnel and external agencies to gather and exchange information; promote departmental services provided to the campus.
- Assure proper working order of equipment and notify appropriate personnel when repairs and/or maintenance are necessary.
- Intervene as necessary to confront and restrain hostile and abusive persons to reduce the risk of personal injury to patients, visitors or employees and minimize operational disruption; maintain self‑control in stressful situations.
- Aid the lead in reviewing security documents and related reports; assume the shift lead role in the absence of the lead.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma/GED
- One (1) year of experience
- Non‑Commissioned Security Officer – grace period: 3 months
- Texas Driver’s License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) – grace period: 14 days
