Job SummaryPosition responsible for assisting with protecting, securing and promoting safety and security at a Memorial Hermann Hospital campus.
Principal Accountabilities- Monitors assigned areas ensuring maximum visibility of security presence, posts in assigned area or conducts patrols on foot or vehicle.
- Ensures security of all designated areas and access points; controls vehicular access to buildings and parking areas; identifies and reports all fire and safety hazards, suspicious activities, or breaches of security.
- Controls access of areas and materials by administering and enforcing building visitor and materials pass programs.
- Has a complete understanding of hospital, building management, and departmental policies and procedures; posts orders and complies with job requirements at all times.
- Responds to all security and emergency situations as dispatched or assigned; assists patients, visitors and staff by answering questions and providing escorts, directions, and vehicle assists.
- Completes and submits required security reports and activity logs within assigned shift; operates and maintains security equipment; maintains knowledge of emergency systems and equipment.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management and productivity.
- Promotes professional growth by meeting mandatory/continuing education and skills competency requirements; supports department goals; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
- Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate, personalized experiences; models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.

- Education:
High School Diploma or GED - Certified Healthcare Basic Security Officer (certified within 6 months of hire if not onboarded)
- Licensed as a Commissioned Security Officer by Texas DPS Private Security Bureau within 90 days of hire
- Possession of a valid driver’s license (converted to Texas driver’s license within 90 days of employment if from out of state)
- Certified in Heartsaver® CPR or Heartcode BLS CPR by American Heart Association within 90 days of hire

Must understand and communicate effectively in both verbal and written form - Computer proficiency is required
