Sr Security Officer

At Houston Methodist, the Senior Security Officer position is responsible for assigned activities of the Public Safety/Security department. In addition to performing the duties and functions of Security Officer, this position assists with the coordination of shift security operations in the absence of the Public Safety Supervisor or Coordinator. The Senior Security Officer position supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization;

serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.

• High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
• ICS-Incident Command System 300/400 within 6 months of hire date

• Two years security of related field experience
• Healthcare experience preferred
• One year of Houston Methodist Public Safety experience preferred

• State license:
  Secur-C or Secur-N within 14 days and
• DL
  - Driver License
  - State Licensure
  - Texas Department of Licensing and  Must obtain a Texas DL within 90 days and
• IAHSS
  - Certified Security Officer-Basic/Advanced/Supervisor (IAHSS) - International Association for Healthcare Security &  within 90 days and
• NVCRISIS
  - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or Instructor (CPI) - Crisis Prevention Institute within 60 days

• BLS
  - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)

• Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through ongoing skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially about activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
• Demonstrates the ability to interact with others in a way that gives them confidence in one’s intentions and those of the organization
• Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance of ideas or plans; modifying one’s own behavior to accommodate tasks, situations and individuals involved
