Fire Alarm Project Technician
Convergint is looking for a full‑time, enthusiastic, results‑driven and forward‑thinking Fire Alarm Project Technician to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will install, program, perform system start‑up/check‑out, testing/commissioning, customer training and all associated documentation on assigned installation projects including more complex projects. As a Fire Alarm Project Technician, you are part of a dynamic team that allows you to grow as Convergint grows.
What you’ll do:
- Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
- Provides technical support and training for customers, maximizing satisfaction.
- Interprets manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and uses equipment to repair and maintain systems.
- Works with blueprints, schematics, and manuals to determine installation procedures.
- Operates and demonstrates equipment, commissions new systems, analyzes performance, and identifies malfunctions.
- Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in operation, maintenance, and warranty.
- Advises management on customer satisfaction, product performance, and installation standards.
- Executes programming, graphics development, certification testing, customer training, close‑out documentation, and ongoing technical support for multiple projects.
- Identifies potential project risks and works with project managers to mitigate impacts.
- Coaches and mentors less experienced personnel.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What you’ll need:
- Exceptional customer focus, ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to convey complex subject matter to non‑technical audiences.
- Willingness to learn technical skills related to fire alarm systems and electronic security.
- Self‑starter, works well independently.
- Understanding of electronics (Ohm’s Law, resistor color code, relay logic).
- Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude with hand and power tools.
- Experience programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning fire alarm systems (Edwards or equivalent).
- Motivation to obtain certifications/licensing related to products, industry, and local/state requirements.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- NICET Level II in Fire Alarm.
- Low‑voltage electrical license as required by local/state laws.
- Ability to travel locally to jobsites; minimal overnight travel may be required.

Requirements:
- High School/GED or equivalent experience.
- 3‑5 years relevant experience (required).
- TX Fire Alarm Installer License (required).
- NICET Certification (preferred).
- EST Certification (preferred).
- Associate degree in Electronics or related field (preferred).
