Environmental Technician
Location: Houston, TX
Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Field Manager, the Environmental Technician will play an integral part in RJN’s success by assisting with field inspection services in sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and other underground infrastructure.
Position Responsibilities- Conduct field inspection services such as manhole inspection, smoke testing, and dye water flooding.
- Perform confined space entry work in manholes on a daily basis.
- Assist with installation and maintenance of flow meters.
- Maintain and clean equipment and vehicles to ensure safe and productive work.
- Interact with clients and the general public professionally.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures in the RJN Group, Inc. Safety Manual and SOPs.
- Travel and work overtime as required.
- High School diploma or GED certificate from an accredited institution.
- Mechanical skills – ability to use hand and power tools.
- Basic computer skills.
- Proficiency with smartphones and tablets (iPads, etc.).
- Physical and cognitive abilities to perform confined space entry.
- Ability to read and interpret sewer and road maps.
- Previous experience working within confined space entry.
- Experience in a customer‑centric role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
Physical demands: stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, squat or crouch in confined spaces, climb ladders or steps, work with arms above head. Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and tolerate working in heat or cold.
Work environment: minimal noise in office; moderate noise in field; may be required to be in a confined space for extended periods.
Personal Protective Equipment:
When working in field, steel‑toe boots, Class 2/3 safety vest, high‑visibility T‑shirt, gloves, safety glasses, hard hat as needed.
