Job Description & How to Apply Below

Network Cabling Services (NCS) is looking for an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support project execution, coordinate field operations, and help deliver successful projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong field background who wants to develop project management skills while remaining actively involved in day-to-day operations.

The APM is a hybrid, hands-on role that combines project coordination, material management, scheduling, site readiness, quality control, and field support. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, field technicians, customers, contractors, and internal teams to keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward.

As the Project Manager’s eyes in the field, you’ll help identify challenges early, communicate project updates, and ensure teams have the resources and support needed to succeed.

What You’ll Do
  • Support Project Execution:
Assist Project Managers with schedules, resources, daily priorities, and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate Field Operations:
Help schedule field personnel, monitor progress, and communicate changes that may affect project timelines.
  • Manage Materials and Equipment:
Coordinate material requisitions, track inventory, and ensure tools, testing equipment, and supplies are available when needed.
  • Evaluate Site Readiness:
Identify site conditions, access requirements, badging needs, and potential obstacles before they affect project execution.
  • Monitor Quality and Progress:
Conduct site walkthroughs, monitor workmanship, and help ensure projects meet NCS standards and customer expectations.
  • Support Project Closeout:
Assist with as-built drawings, project documentation, customer sign-offs, and closeout packages.
  • Provide Field Leadership:
Support field technicians, share technical knowledge, and provide hands‑on coaching and on‑the‑job training as needed.
  • Communicate and Collaborate:
Provide project status updates and communicate risks, delays, and solutions to Project Managers and stakeholders.
  • Represent NCS:
Maintain professionalism, follow safety procedures, and deliver excellent customer service throughout every project.
What We’re Looking For
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction, telecommunications, low voltage, industrial work, or a related hands‑on industry.
  • Previous project coordination or construction project experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, mobile applications, and project‑related technology.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with field teams and management.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as project assignments require.
  • Ability to work in both office and active jobsite environments.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre‑employment background check and drug screening.
Why Join NCS?

This position offers the opportunity to build on your field experience, develop leadership skills, and gain hands‑on exposure to project planning and execution. You’ll work alongside experienced Project Managers and field teams while developing the skills needed to take on greater project management responsibilities over time.

If you’re organized, proactive, comfortable in the field, and ready to grow your career beyond hands‑on work, we want to hear from you.
