Senior Java Developer – Build a Greenfield Platform

This role is a great opportunity to join one of the world’s largest energy and commodities trading firms. This firm trades in all of the major commodity asset classes and places a major emphasis on technology to deliver multi‑asset‑class commodity systems.

As a Senior Java Developer, you will work side‑by‑side with risk and trading teams to create solutions and leverage your skill set in risk modelling, analytics, and market data. You must have expertise with Java, Kafka, and cloud technologies in a financial environment.

The role requires excellent communication skills; you will work closely with business teams to gather requirements and demonstrate your knowledge of the space from a business perspective.

You will work on many greenfield applications, including a risk platform. You will be responsible for building scalable, high‑performance risk technology systems and driving innovation and continuous improvement. Experience with Spring Boot, CI/CD tools, and SQL is a plus.

You will mentor junior developers on the team; ideally you have 7+ years of experience.

This full‑time role is based in Houston, TX and offers high visibility and ownership.
