Position Description
As a Systems Analyst II / Software Developer, you will define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain requirements-driven software and web applications in support of the Harris County Clerk’s Office Elections Department. You will write, test, and maintain code for both new and existing applications, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines, solving issues independently, and following best practices for security, stability, and scalability.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Write programming scripts to code the election, enhance functionality, and/or performance of company applications as necessary.
- Collaborate with developers, programmers, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.
- Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures.
- Analyze data and create reports for miscellaneous departments.
- Participate in election period activities including nightly reporting during both Early Voting and Election Day, plus other scheduled activities occurring outside of a normal work schedule.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
- Three (3) years building production-quality software solutions.
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least one (1) server-side language and one front-end framework.
- Work under stress and without direct supervision.
- Interpret laws, policies, and procedures.
- Experience with software development technologies including NodeJS, .NET/C#, JavaScript, and MSSQL (queries, views, stored procedures, functions).
- Ability to learn new tools, frameworks, and processes quickly.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills; research solutions and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
- Strong sense of accountability; manage priorities, meet deadlines, deliver accurate, reliable work under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ask questions and collaborate when clarification is needed.
- Project examples strongly preferred.
- Experience with Dev Ops, File Maker, or Oracle a plus.
Regular Full-time. Monday – Friday | 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. May be subject to include holidays and weekends as needed. Position requires flexibility to work extended hours during election periods and other peak workloads. Due to fixed deadlines, tasks may need to be completed outside standard business hours.
Salary- $42.00 Hourly

Work Environment and Physical DemandsHybrid office environment (discretionary, as initiatives permit). This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filling cabinets. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen. Due to a high volume of applications positions may close prior to the advertised closing date or at the discretion of the Hiring Department.
