Senior Java Backend Engineer; Telecom Domain

CTG is seeking to fill a Senior Java Backend Engineer position for our client.

Location: Houston, TX Duration: 12 months

We’re looking for a seasoned Java Backend Engineer with solid telecom experience to help build and support high-performance backend systems. If you enjoy digging into complex distributed systems and bringing order to the chaos (the fun kind), you’ll fit right in.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservice patterns.

• Work across the full development lifecycle, from requirement gathering through deployment and ongoing support.

• Create RESTful APIs and integrate them with internal and external systems while keeping performance and security in mind.

• Implement microservice architectures that support modularity, reusability, and resilience.

• Partner with Dev Ops teams to maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Git Hub Actions, or similar tools.

• Collaborate with frontend, database, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth integration across the stack.

• Write clean, testable code and contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and team knowledge sharing.

• Troubleshoot and optimize backend components for performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 5+ years of professional experience in Java backend development, with a strong background in telecom systems.

• Deep expertise in Core Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security).

• Strong hands‑on experience building and consuming RESTful services.

• Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and related architectural patterns.

• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern Dev Ops practices.

• Familiarity with frontend or full-stack workflows.

• Understanding of database performance tuning and infrastructure fundamentals.

• A knack for improving existing systems and catching issues before they become outages.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
