Software Engineer, Full Stack Developer

Description We are looking for a Software Engineer to join a long-term contract opportunity supporting a secure research data platform in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will help create and enhance web-based tools that allow researchers to work with large-scale learning and behavioral data while maintaining strong privacy protections. This position blends full-stack development, data-focused problem solving, and close collaboration with technical and academic stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings strong Type Script-based engineering experience and enjoys building reliable products that support meaningful research outcomes.

Responsibilities:

- Build and enhance end-to-end platform capabilities across user-facing applications and backend services, with a strong focus on scalable full-stack delivery.

- Create responsive interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks and develop server-side functionality that supports secure and efficient data workflows.

- Design and integrate data models that connect information from multiple research sources into a cohesive platform architecture.

- Contribute to cloud-based infrastructure and automated delivery processes to improve system reliability, performance, and release quality.

- Work closely with engineers, product leaders, data specialists, and research partners to translate complex needs into practical software solutions.

- Improve code quality through thoughtful system design, peer reviews, testing practices, and clear technical documentation.

- Support platform stability by identifying performance issues, troubleshooting technical problems, and helping optimize large application codebases.

- Provide guidance to less experienced team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-accountability engineering culture. Requirements - At least five years of experience delivering production software applications.

- Strong proficiency in Type Script and hands-on experience building full-stack solutions for web environments.

- Practical experience with React.js, Node.js, JavaScript, and modern application development practices.

- Background in application architecture, data modeling, testing, deployment, and software lifecycle management.

- Experience working with cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines in a production setting.

- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code approaches and tools used to manage scalable environments.

- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and contribute within cross-functional teams.

- Experience handling sensitive data, regulated environments, or privacy-focused products is highly valued. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
