Athletic Director

Job Summary

The Athletic Director works under the direction of the Principal and collaborates closely with school leadership, coaches, and volunteers to support the effective operation of the school’s athletic department. This role oversees all participation in the Greater Houston Catholic Athletic Association (GHCAA) and the West Houston Christian Sports Association (WHCSA) and ensures that athletic programs reflect the mission and values of Catholic education.

• Maintain a professional attitude, appearance, and manner which strengthens respect for the faculty and staff n Paul II Catholic School.
• Be knowledgeable of all policies, rules, and regulations as stated in the Parent, Faculty, Crisis Management, & Athletics Handbooks, and GHCAA League Rules.
• Recruit and supervise coaches for the middle school teams. This includes having coaches’ meetings prior to the start of each season to go over rules, expectations, code of conduct and distribute uniforms.
• Schedule and coordinate, with the school’s master calendar, all athletic uses in the gyms and athletic fields.
• Facilitate and organize registration process for each middle school sport.
• Provide practice and game schedules for middle school teams, plus coordinate bus requests for away games and team photos.
• Be the administrator on duty during all athletic events including practices and home games.
• Ensure that all coaches are Safe Haven trained, background checks are complete, and the code of conduct is signed.
• Provide team rosters to the business department to ensure billing completion.
• Create groups in FACTS for each team for easy communication by school and coaches.
• Hire scorekeepers and manage referee requests for school home games.
• With approval of the principal, order and distribute all athletic equipment and uniforms for middle school athletic teams.
• With the principal and head of maintenance, monitor condition of gym and fields.
• Organize sports banquet for middle school athletics; either seasonally or yearly.
• Work with the IT Director to update material on the Athletic Department webpage of the school website.
• Update JPII athletic handbook yearly.
• Other duties as assigned by the principal.
