Job SummaryLead Pilot responsibilities in a 24-hour operation environment, with duties including team leadership, scheduling, safety compliance, and coordination with base and operations management. Aircraft transition and relocation packages may apply per the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a staff of pilots, ensuring operation in accordance with the General Operations Manual (GOM) and FAA regulations.
- Coordinate with base and area leadership for business planning, marketing, and efficient EMS base operation.
- Oversee pilot development, assessments, counseling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Manage base pilots’ occupational health compliance, safety training, and recurrent training scheduling.
- Prepare monthly schedules, manage shifts, PTO, sick calls, and open shifts; cover open shifts as required.
- Ensure timely distribution of schedules and communications to relevant departments.
- Approve base pilots’ bonus and expense vouchers; audit base bills and payment processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely paperwork and reporting; ensure compliance with FAA regulations and company policies.
- Maintain communication with Area and Maintenance Managers regarding aircraft status; participate in safety meetings and safety audits.
- External search may run concurrently with internal posting.
- Participation in community outreach and adherence to PHI Air Medical policies.
- Some lifting may be required for patient and equipment loading/unloading.
- Perform line pilot duties in accordance with the GOM; support Safety Management System and safety campaigns.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to provide safe, efficient, courteous, and reliable service.

- Commercial and Instrument Helicopter Ratings
- First Class Medical
- CAMTS requirement with defined flight hour thresholds
- Weight and medical fitness requirements; ability to pass pre-placement physical, drug screening, and background check
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to pass interviews and assessment by PHI management
- 24-hour operations with day/night rotations; schedule may change by base.
