Position Description
The Roadway Facilities Inspector inspects the routine and day‑to‑day activities performed in all HCTRA roadway facilities by vendors or contractors. Coordinates with HCTRA staff to ensure any needed material(s) or equipment is acquired for projects. Inspects the condition of the HCTRA system and assets and coordinates any repairs with staff. Responds to emergency situations, when called upon, for initial survey of any damage to HCTRA assets.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Reviews pending work tickets; coordinates with other staff, vendors or contractors on scope, budget, pending projects, issues, and/or events.
- Monitors day‑to‑day facility maintenance projects and the condition of equipment in assigned facilities of the toll road system.
- Assists in obtaining required equipment and materials for projects and ensures that ordered materials are sent to the correct HCTRA locations.
- Monitors contractor work hours to ensure projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborates with management staff to relay and enforce policy, procedure, and any contract changes to contractors.

RequirementsEducation and Experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Minimum two (2) years' experience in roadway or facility maintenance, construction, construction inspection, and/or facility maintenance.
- Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; good active listening skills.
- Ability to adapt and solve problems in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize and multi‑task.
- Ability to collaborate, be accountable, and work in a team environment.
- Ability to compare alternative courses of action and make sound decisions.
- Knowledge of roadway maintenance methods and procedures.
- Driving, sitting, walking.
- Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
- Must be able to work any day and any shift, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Hours may vary based on business needs of the department. Emergency situations may require additional hours.
- Reports to:
Facilities Supervisor. - Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
