Primary

Purpose:

To deliver food and/or warehouse supplies to the cafeterias in a safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and a good driving record
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 60 days, a State of Texas or ANSI accredited Food Handler’s Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and driver logs
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others
  • Demonstrate good time management skills

Experience:

  • Driving or warehouse experience preferred
Major

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Receive, stock and deliver warehouse supplies and/or prepared food items from central kitchen to satellite cafeterias according to schedule.
  • Rotate dates and stock supplies as deliveries are made. Assist with inventory.
  • Maintain cleanliness of warehouse and school freezer areas.
  • Maintain vehicle – assure cleanliness and report accidents or mechanical problems to transportation, Warehouse Manager, and Manager.
  • Responsible for checking vehicle each morning, before going on deliveries, to ensure all systems are in good, safe working order. If a malfunction is found, the driver is to inform the Warehouse Manager immediately and complete a written report.
  • Follow district and departmental policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Must be mentally alert.
  • May have to work in whatever capacity is needed other than driving duties.
  • Adhere to HACCP guidelines.
Other:
  • Must obtain minimum required annual Professional Standard training hours, per USDA regulations.
  • Must attend required training, in-service, and work-related activities.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Manual Trades - Central Distribution Personnel.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; district vehicle; large and small kitchen equipment.

Posture: Frequent standing, sitting; walking, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, reaching, wrist turning, grasping, finger manipulation, and twisting. Must be able to use a step ladder, sweep, mop, and clean equipment.

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent reaching.

Vision & Hearing: Moderate to Maximum.

Lifting and Carrying: Frequent lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds). If over 50 pounds, must ask for assistance.

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; inside 50%; outside 50%; temperature

-130o F; work in an environment that is not air conditioned; some exposure to elements; hard surface floors.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.

Salary Range Min-$15.90 Mid-$19.22 Max-$22.54 (Based on previous experience)

182 Days or 190 Days
