CDL Class A - Flex Driver

We are an independent contractor for Fedex Express Line Haul Delivery. We are currently seeking full time CDL drivers. Current Fedex CDL drivers HIGHLY recommended to apply.

Description of Duties

The Linehaul Floater Driver is a versatile, dependable team member responsible for ensuring uninterrupted operations by covering open routes, supporting fleet maintenance, and assisting with operational needs as they arise. This position requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to adapt to changing schedules with little notice.

Route Coverage

• Cover regularly scheduled linehaul runs during driver vacations, sick days, personal leave, or other absences.
• Fill in for open routes on short notice when operational needs arise.
• Operate assigned routes safely while maintaining Fed Ex service standards and delivery schedules.

Fleet Support

• Transport tractors to and from repair facilities, dealerships, inspection, tire shops, and maintenance vendors.
• Deliver equipment for scheduled preventive maintenance.
• Assist with equipment swaps as directed by management.

Operational Support

• Pick up available extra runs, spot work, or special assignments when primary coverage is not needed.
• Support peak season operations and increased freight volume.
• Perform shuttle runs between terminals or hubs if able.

Vehicle Inspection & Safety

• Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Immediately report any safety concerns, equipment defects, or accidents.
• Maintain DOT compliance, including Hours of Service regulations and required documentation.
• Operate all company equipment safely and professionally.

Schedule Expectations

Because this is a floater position, work schedules may vary based on business needs. Assignments may include:

• Vacation coverage
• Sick day coverage
• Emergency route coverage
• Fleet maintenance transportation
• Extra linehaul runs
• Shuttle work
• Peak season support
• Other transportation-related duties as assigned

Flexibility is an essential function of this position.

Requirements

• No record of a preventable accident resulting in a fatality or serious injury or payout greater than $100,000.
• No record, citation or conviction during the one-year period prior to the application date of:
• Using a handheld mobile phone or texting while driving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV)
• Failing to properly wear a seatbelt in a CMV, whether as a driver or as a passenger
• More than one (1) instance under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program’s Unsafe Driving BASIC, under any of the following Groups:
  Dangerous Driving, Speeding 3, or Speeding 4, only to include work or construction zone
• Any instance under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program’s Hazardous Materials Compliance BASIC under Group:
  Load Securement-Hazmat and Unsafe Driving BASIC, under any of the following groups:
  Texting, Phone Call, or Seat Belt
• No record, citation or conviction during the thirty-six (36) consecutive months prior to the application date of:
• More than two (2) moving violations
• More than one (1) preventable accident, or more than one (1) preventable accident and (1) moving violation in any combination
• Operating a vehicle without a valid license or improper license, including operating a vehicle while a license is expired or under suspension, revocation or cancellation
• Offenses resulting in more than one (1) driver's license suspension for moving violations thirty (30) days or more for moving violations
• Reckless, aggressive or careless endangerment of any vehicle
• Any instance of exceeding the posted speed limit by 15 m.p.h. or more
• Operating a CMV when not medically certified
• Operating a veh
