Contingent Registered Nurse RN Livingston Med/Surg

Salary: Minimum rate of pay: $34.77 PLUS Daily PAY

About Trinity Health Livingston Med/Surg: We’re currently seeking compassionate, reliable Med/Surg nurses to join our 25-bed unit at a small community hospital. Our team provides care for a wide variety of adult patients with medical and postoperative needs, offering a strong foundation in clinical skills, time management, and teamwork. Whether you’re early in your nursing career or looking to return to the fundamentals of bedside care, this unit offers a solid, well‑rounded experience.

What

you will do
  • Gather and analyze patient information
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized care plans
  • Use teach‑back methodology to educate patients and families
  • Actively seek to prevent potential hospital‑acquired conditions
  • Effectively communicate patient status, priority goals, and interventions during consultations, rounds, and handoffs
  • Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Behave in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals

Shifts Available: Contingent Day and Contingent Nights – with weekend and holiday rotations

Required Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school that allows the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become a licensed registered nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure: Current State of Michigan RN license and BLS. ACLS required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, and Emergency departments.

Experience: Experienced Canadian registered nurses are encouraged to apply.

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Effective January 1, 2013: all new hires must have a BSN or agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from the date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and age‑specific needs
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to perform the principal duties and responsibilities of the job
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care
