Job Title:

MRI Tech
Unit:
Huber Heights Medical Imaging

Shift: 12:30p-9p
Facility: MVH
Primarily performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using proper techniques and contrast media administration. Works under scope of practice per certificate/licensure in medication administration, equipment operation, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow, maintains equipment, and may perform procedures in other imaging modalities as needed.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Perform MRI procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluate MRI studies for technical image quality.
  • Obtain clinical history and data for correlation with the MRI procedure.
  • Implement screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed MRI safety standards and perform daily and weekly QC as required.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media to the patient according to policy and practice sterile techniques.
  • Assist radiologist in special procedures and provide medical treatment during emergency situations.
  • Coordinate patient care with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures based on individual needs; thoroughly explain the exam.
  • Ensure that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, perform clerical duties as necessary, verify a signed physician order is received and correspond with the billed procedure.
  • Maintain knowledge of all emergency equipment locations and operation in the unit.

Education Required
:
Associate degree

Additional Requirements
:
Allied Health degree in Medical Imaging Sciences with additional MRI physics coursework or completed within 6 months of hire.

Licensure / Certification / Registration

  • CPR certification required.
  • MRI registry preferred.
  • ODH licensure preferred.
  • ARRT (R) registry required.

Experience Required
:
No prior job-related work experience; preferred one year MRI experience.

Knowledge / Skills

  • Cross-section anatomy.
  • American College of Radiology (ACR) MRI Safe Practice Guidelines.
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage.
  • Knowledge of advanced MRI computer applications.
