Summary
The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The Manager in Training is knowledgeable in all product areas, promotes sales and promotions, and serves as an ambassador of Hibbett to create a unique customer experience. The Manager in Training assumes supervisory control in the Manager's absence and is trained in managerial responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling store assets.
- Help create action plans for sales, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Take responsibility for the entire store during the Managers' absence.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to meet departmental responsibilities and standards.
- Report inventory movement and customer trends to management.
- Maintain quality customer service.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed despite non‑exempt status.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual.
- Promote and sell Hibbett merchandise and services.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett policies, procedures, and standards.
- Protect company assets and financial information, ensuring effective internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, following company policy and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
- Experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and multitasking precision.
- Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandise selling.
