Jayapriya Medical Foundation (JMF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing accessible and affordable eye care services to underserved rural communities in North Karnataka. Founded in 2002 by Dr. Shrikrishna G. Nadgouda, JMF has conducted over 1,200 free medical camps, examined more than 10.5 million patients, and performed over 65,000 cataract surgeries at no cost to patients. JMF continues to set standards in ophthalmic care, regularly updating its services to meet evolving medical needs and technological advancements.
The foundation collaborates with multiple organizations to combat blindness and is recognized under various regulatory acts, enabling partnerships and foreign funding for its initiatives.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Consultant Ophthalmologist, located in Hubli. The Consultant Ophthalmologist will be responsible for diagnosing and treating eye disorders, performing surgeries such as cataract and laser procedures, and providing expert consultations. Day-to-day tasks include evaluating patients, managing medical and surgical cases, supervising optometry practices, and collaborating on community outreach programs to support JMF's mission of delivering quality and accessible eye care.
Qualifications
Expertise in Ophthalmology, including diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders
Proficiency in medical and surgical procedures, including Surgery and Laser techniques
Knowledge of Optometry and the ability to incorporate optometric practices in patient care
Strong background in Medicine relevant to eye care
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and team members
Commitment to community service and accessibility for underserved populations
Ability to work effectively in a rural and on-site healthcare setting
Postgraduate degree in Ophthalmology (MS/DOMS/DNB or equivalent)
Experience in cataract surgeries and eye care outreach considered highly beneficial
