Semi Senior Accountant

This is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding accountancy practice based in Huddersfield. The firm is committed to developing its people and will provide the guidance, training and support needed to help you reach your full potential, while working alongside experienced accountants and other professionals.

The Role

You will support a varied portfolio of clients and gain exposure to a broad range of accounts and tax work. Responsibilities will include client bookkeeping, preparation of company and partnership accounts, financial statements, interim management accounts, personal tax returns and quarterly VAT returns. You will also assist with the management of client portfolios and contribute to the training and development of apprentices.

Experience in company secretarial work, P11D preparation and payroll would be advantageous but is not essential.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have at least 2–3 years' experience within an accountancy practice environment, with a strong understanding of accounts and tax processes. Experience using Sage 50, Xero, Quick Books, IRIS, My Work Papers  or Bright Pay would be an advantage.

You should have excellent attention to detail, strong time-management and organisational skills, and the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with clients both verbally and in writing. A good telephone manner and the ability to manage competing deadlines are essential.

Qualifications

You should be studying towards AAT, hold a relevant university degree, or be working towards a professional qualification such as ACA or ACCA.
