Position: Architectural Technician - Façade Designer
The Opportunity

Recruit Build is working with an established and highly regarded multidisciplinary construction consultancy to recruit an Architectural Technician / Façade Designer for its growing technical design team in Huddersfield.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Architectural Technician, Technologist or Façade Designer looking to develop their career working on a diverse range of technically challenging building refurbishment, façade remediation and external wall projects.

Working alongside an experienced team of Architects, Technologists and technical specialists, you will play an important role in developing practical, compliant design solutions for residential buildings across the UK.

The position offers exposure to projects involving external wall systems, cladding replacement, building safety improvements and wider refurbishment schemes, with genuine opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

* Produce detailed architectural drawings, construction details and technical design packages for façade, cladding and refurbishment projects.

* Develop accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings and, where appropriate, 3D Revit models.

* Prepare technical specifications, schedules and construction information.

* Contribute to projects from initial design and feasibility through planning, building regulations and construction.

* Develop technical solutions for external wall systems, cladding, insulation, windows and associated building elements.

* Review existing building information, surveys and site conditions to inform design development.

* Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and other design disciplines to ensure coordinated project delivery.

* Assist with Building Safety Regulator submissions and other statutory approval processes where required.

About You

We are interested in hearing from candidates with a strong architectural or technical design background, particularly those with experience of building envelopes, façade systems or refurbishment projects.

Ideally, you will have:

* Experience working as an Architectural Technician, Architectural Technologist, Façade Designer or in a similar technical design role.

* Strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to produce accurate, detailed construction drawings.

* A good understanding of building construction, materials and external envelope detailing.

* Experience of refurbishment, recladding, building remediation or fire safety projects would be advantageous.

* Knowledge of façade systems, including rainscreen cladding, insulation, masonry and glazing.

* Familiarity with Building Regulations and relevant building safety requirements.

* Experience of Building Safety Regulator applications would be particularly beneficial.

* Revit experience would be an advantage.

* Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience of high-rise residential buildings or social housing refurbishment would be particularly relevant, although candidates from other architectural and technical design backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
