Job overviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in GI Imaging to join our friendly and forward‑thinking team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
Applicants must hold a current GMC Licence to Practise. It is essential that candidates are either listed on the General Medical Council Specialist Register or are within six months of achieving CCT (for trainees currently in a UK training programme). Applicants who are not yet on the Specialist Register but can clearly demonstrate equivalent consultant‑level experience in chest and cardiac imaging will also be considered for this post.
Mainduties of the job
We are recruiting a Consultant Radiologist with expertise in gastrointestinal (GI) imaging to join our supportive and forward‑thinking Radiology team, delivering elective and emergency imaging services across Calderdale and Huddersfield. Fluoroscopic skills are desirable, and experience in ultrasound‑guided biopsies and drain placements is welcomed.
The successful candidate will provide high‑quality GI imaging interpretation across ultrasound, CT and MRI, undertake GI‑related interventions, and support general non‑vascular procedures as appropriate. They will vet and report specialist scans, offer second opinions, participate in MDTs, and work flexibly across sites while maintaining competence in general imaging.
The role includes participation in the on‑call rota, contribution to departmental functions such as education, audit, and modality groups, and adherence to Trust clinical governance and health and safety standards. The post also involves teaching, supervising trainees from the Leeds‑Bradford Radiology Academy, and engaging in research, audit, and service evaluation to support evidence‑based practice.
