Our academic team enjoy a collaborative approach to Learning and Teaching by supporting each other in the planning, delivery and evaluation of our STEM programmes and modules content. THE ROLE
- Plan appropriate, effective, differentiated, and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work that promote equality and engage with diversity
- Plan teaching sessions using learning outcomes found in modules’ specifications and accommodate individualised learning using a variety of resources and methods including digital learning techniques
- Ensure all learning materials are updated and available on the VLE for students to access and engage with
- Participate in the development of module material and layout on the VLE as required
- Apply the principles of learning to provide learning activities to meet curriculum requirements and the needs of all students
- Select the relevant learning approaches and skill development to ensure students’ progress
- Contribute to the provision of a stimulating learning environment whilst adhering to the Centres’ Health and Safety and safeguarding procedures
- Apply the theories and principles of assessment including initial, diagnostic, timely formative and summative assessment
- Use a variety of consistent methods to check learning in lessons and periodically track and record students’ progress
- Ensure that interactive assessment activities are available to students, face to face, online and via VLE
- Provide regular and timely constructive feedback to students to enable them to improve and achieve their qualifications
- Prepare students for summative assessment e.g. exams, coursework, assignments, practical and/ or other required assessments methods
- Engage in the timely preparation of assessment materials including the creation, marking, moderation and the entry of marks in the appropriate platforms e.g. Progresso and Trackers
- Maintain continuous, up to date and accurate records of student attendance and progress
- Respond promptly and appropriately to lapses in student attendance, punctuality, behaviour and needed application to their future studies, referrals to progress coaches or senior management as necessary
- Support students with individual target setting and revise these throughout the year during progress checks
- Support student with action planning to improve academic performance and achieve aspirational targets
- Be available to offer support to students as required e.g. workshops, booster and revision classes
- Support students to progress to the University by being proactive in liaising with University Schools and their link tutors
- Contribute to student progress reports in a clear, accurate manner using constructive language
- Strive for students to achieve and attain high standards
- Refer students for learning support where appropriate
- Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of students in your care
- Refer to support services where appropriate
- Contribute to effective communication with stakeholders e.g. parents, sponsors, University and others as appropriate
- Be aware of and comply with all Centre quality assurance processes such as observation of teaching and learning, audits of teaching and learning material, including VLE contents, programme and module evaluation and subject team performance reviews
