SEND Teaching Assistant (ADHD Support) - Huddersfield

Are you a compassionate and resilient teaching assistant with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with ADHD at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Huddersfield.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to support a child with a recent diagnosis of ADHD. Your role will focus on building trust and developing creative, low-demand strategies to reduce anxiety and encourage engagement in learning and social development.

• Provide consistent, person-centred 1:1 support within the classroom and other school settings
• Use low-demand and child-led approaches in line with best practice for ADHD
• Develop positive relationships to support emotional regulation and reduce barriers to learning
• Collaborate with the wider SEND team to adapt learning materials and routines
• Monitor and report progress, challenges, and breakthroughs

• Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASD/ADHD
• A calm, empathetic, and flexible approach to behaviour and communication
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to take initiative
• Knowledge of trauma-informed or neurodiversity-affirming practices (desirable)
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent)
