English Intervention Specialist

About the role:

A busy and ambitious secondary school in Huddersfield is seeking a dedicated English Intervention Specialist to join their team on a full-time basis from after the Easter holidays 2026. This short‑term role, running until the end of the academic year, is focused on supporting targeted GCSE English intervention for students who require additional guidance to achieve their potential. The school is looking for someone confident, proactive, and experienced in delivering high‑quality English support within a secondary setting.

• Deliver focused English intervention sessions to small groups and individual GCSE learners
• Support students in developing key reading, writing, and analytical skills
• Work closely with English department staff to identify learning gaps and tailor support
• Track and monitor student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
• Assist in preparing students for upcoming assessments and final examinations
• Contribute to a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and follow school policies consistently

• Previous experience supporting English at secondary level, ideally within GCSE intervention
• Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering targeted literacy support
• Ability to build rapport with learners and motivate them towards progress
• Excellent communication, organisation, and record‑keeping skills
• A calm, adaptable, and student‑centred approach
• Commitment to promoting student wellbeing and safeguarding
