Class Teacher – Primary School
Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Newsome Junior Academy
. The position is a permanent teaching role at the MPS grade with a salary band of MPS
. It is based at Castle Ave, Huddersfield, HD4 6JN
and requires 32.5 teaching hours per week.
- Carry out the professional duties of a Class Teacher as provided under the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document.
- Organise, manage and administer the classroom in a child‑centred manner appropriate to the age and abilities of the children.
- Plan, prepare, teach, assess and record achievement appropriately, ensuring learning objectives are clear.
- Set curriculum targets appropriate to the learning needs of the children.
- Plan skill development that has cross‑curriculum impact where appropriate.
- Maintain children’s motivation through good classroom practice and presentation.
- Provide high‑quality learning experiences and a stimulating, exciting classroom environment.
- Differentiate work to meet the needs of both SEN and most able children.
- Actively promote the personal development of children, including spiritual, moral, cultural, social, mental and physical development.
- Maintain a consistent, positive approach to discipline and pastoral welfare in accordance with school policy.
- Review and modify teaching methods and programmes of work as necessary.
- Work as part of a whole‑school team focused on high‑quality, child‑centred education.
- Support colleagues and participate in performance management and appraisal processes.
- Keep up to date with national developments and initiatives and participate in INSET and CPD.
- Undertake supervisory duties necessary for the health and safety of the children, e.g., during break times.
