The Role of a Teacher of Children with Complex NeedsBeing a Teacher of Children with Complex Needs is a rewarding and hands‑on role within specialist settings across Huddersfield, teaching and supporting pupils with complex needs to ensure their physical, mental and academic needs are met. Every day will be different, as you work closely with students to support their learning, communication, and overall development.
You will deliver lessons that are designed to help pupils engage in their learning while promoting independence, comfort, and wellbeing. The role will include supporting with personal care, mobility, and communication needs, using a calm and consistent approach to ensure each pupil feels safe and supported.
ResponsibilitiesSupport pupils in their daily learning and care, deliver tailored lessons, and maintain a calm and consistent environment to foster safety and independence.
Qualifications- Hold QTS.
- ECTs may apply but must have experience within SEN settings and complex needs.
- Experienced working with children or young people with complex needs, disabilities, or SEND.
- Confident supporting with personal care, manual handling, and mobility needs.
- Patient, nurturing, and able to build strong, trusting relationships.
- Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable in a hands‑on role.
- Live in Huddersfield or able to commute to Huddersfield.
