Secondary English Teacher

About the role

We’re looking for a dynamic, knowledgeable and confident English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school on the outskirts of Huddersfield. This full‑time role runs from as soon as possible until summer 2026, offering the chance to make a real impact on students’ progress and enjoyment of English. You’ll be joining a supportive department in a well‑established school with excellent facilities and a strong commitment to high standards.

• Deliver engaging, well‑structured English lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Maintain a confident and authoritative classroom presence that promotes positive behaviour
• Plan, assess and track student progress in line with school policies
• Contribute to the wider English department through collaborative planning and resource sharing
• Support the school’s commitment to raising attainment and fostering a love of literature and language
• Participate in parents’ evenings, department meetings and whole‑school initiatives

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Strong subject knowledge up to KS4
  , with the ability to teach a range of texts and writing skills
• Proven experience managing behaviour confidently and effectively in a secondary classroom
• Ability to build rapport with students and inspire them to achieve their best
• Excellent communication, organisation and time‑management skills
• A proactive, professional attitude and readiness to start immediately
