Salary: £28,000 – £39,520
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

About the School

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent school in Huddersfield that supports pupils aged 5-18 with SEMH needs and associated conditions, including Autism, ADHD, attachment difficulties, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and sensory processing needs.

With small class sizes, strong pastoral support, and excellent staff‑to‑pupil ratios, the school provides a nurturing environment where pupils are supported to achieve both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils' individual needs.
  • Create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs to achieve their learning goals.
  • Use effective behaviour management and restorative approaches.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence, and achievement.
  • Support pupils during enrichment activities, trips, and non‑classroom times.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Previous teaching experience within a school setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, resilient, and nurturing approach.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
