Working as a Pastoral Assistant within this specialist SEMH setting in Huddersfield, you will provide emotional, behavioural, and pastoral support to students throughout the school day. You will work alongside teachers, safeguarding leads, and external professionals to help pupils regulate their emotions, develop positive behaviours, and successfully engage in education.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering one-to-one and small group pastoral interventions

* Supporting pupils with emotional wellbeing, resilience, and self-regulation

* Using positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and achievement

* Developing strong, professional relationships built on trust and consistency

* Encouraging positive attendance, routines, and personal development

* Working collaboratively with safeguarding, pastoral, and teaching teams

* Providing support both inside the classroom and around the wider school environment

You'll Be…

Experienced supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs

* Calm, resilient, and able to remain positive in challenging situations

* Confident using behaviour management and de-escalation techniques

* Experienced within schools, alternative provisions, residential care, or youth work settings

* Passionate about helping vulnerable young people achieve their potential

* Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
