Job DescriptionJob Title: Pastoral Mentor
Salary: £26,390 - £27,737 (FTE £29,291 - £30,786)
Location: Huddersfield
Hours and Weeks per Year: 37 hours / 40 weeks
In the role of Pastoral Mentor, you'll predominantly be based at Waterfront, providing dedicated pastoral support to a caseload of 16–18 ESOL students. Working closely with curriculum, safeguarding and support teams, you'll help students overcome personal, social and academic barriers, enabling them to engage fully with their studies and achieve successful outcomes.
Responsibilities- Deliver one-to-one and group pastoral interventions.
- Monitor attendance, wellbeing and progress.
- Support students through challenges that may impact learning.
- Make appropriate referrals to internal and external support services.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed.
- Educated to Level 3 (or equivalent). Demonstrable experience in supporting 16–18 year old students in an educational or pastoral setting.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to build positive relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Empathy, resilience and commitment to helping students overcome barriers to learning.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
