Youth Worker in Schools

Are you a youth worker or do you have experience supporting children or teenagers through youth work, mentoring, outreach, or community-based services? Are you confident building relationships with young people who may struggle to engage with education? Are you looking to bring those skills into schools across Huddersfield and the surrounding areas?

Your experience in youth work could make a real difference within a school setting. We're looking for people who understand young people, can build trust, and know how to provide the right balance of encouragement, boundaries, and support.

Working within schools, you'll support pupils who may have additional needs, SEMH, challenging behaviour, or difficulties engaging with education. You'll work both inside and outside the classroom, providing practical and pastoral support to help students feel more settled and ready to learn.

You'll use the skills you've already developed in youth work to build positive relationships, encourage better choices, manage behaviour, and help young people develop confidence, resilience, and independence.

• Experienced working with young people through youth work, mentoring, outreach, residential care, or another support-based role
• Confident building rapport with young people who may be difficult to engage
• Calm and consistent when responding to challenging behaviour
• Resilient, approachable, and able to provide positive boundaries
• Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes
