About the role:

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable English Specialist to join a thriving secondary school in Huddersfield from September 2026. This full-time position offers the chance to shape young minds across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging lessons that spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love of literature and language. You will join a supportive English department committed to high standards, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Delivery — Teach high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring all students are challenged and supported.
• Assessment & Feedback — Plan, mark, and assess student work, using data to inform teaching and drive progress.
• Classroom Culture — Create an inclusive, inspiring learning environment where every student feels valued.
• Literacy Development — Contribute to whole-school literacy initiatives and enrichment activities.
• Collaboration — Work closely with colleagues to develop resources, share best practice, and support departmental goals.
• Safeguarding Commitment — Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and student welfare.

Pre-requisites:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature up to KS4.
• A track record of delivering engaging, well-structured lessons.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour‑management skills.
• A commitment to professional growth and reflective practice.
• Enthusiasm, resilience, and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
