We are seeking an experienced Principal or Senior Drainage / Flood Risk Engineer to join a growing infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity to take a lead role on a diverse range of private development projects, including commercial units, retail parks, residential schemes and complex highway‑related infrastructure works. You will play a key role in supporting the business across multiple work streams, providing technical leadership on drainage and flood risk projects while helping to shape and grow the team.

• Lead the design and delivery of drainage and infrastructure solutions for private developments and associated highway works
• Develop SUDS strategies and produce adoptable drainage and road designs
• Utilise industry software including Civil 3D, PDS, Micro Drainage/Causeway Flow and AutoCAD
• Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies
• Undertake site inspections and attend technical and design meetings

• Manage projects to ensure delivery within agreed budgets, programmes and quality standards
• Provide technical leadership across project teams
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs to achieve project objectives
• Support business growth by contributing to new work streams and client development

• Liaise with statutory bodies, including local authorities, highways teams and water authorities
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Provide expert technical advice on drainage and flood risk throughout project lifecycle

• Ensure designs comply with regulatory requirements and best practice guidance
• Maintain high standards of technical excellence and service delivery
• Support internal quality assurance processes

• Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians
• Encourage knowledge sharing and professional development within the team
• Help foster a collaborative and positive working culture

• Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
• Chartered or working toward chartership (ICE, CIWEM or equivalent)
• Strong post‑graduate experience in drainage and flood risk engineering
• Proven background in private development and highway‑related infrastructure schemes
• Proficiency in relevant design software
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience managing budgets and project programmes
• Strong problem‑solving ability and sound engineering judgement
