EC & I Service & Commissioning Engineer. £45-50k + Van, Pension, Paid Overtime, Site uplifts of 10%
OTE £65-70k. West Yorkshire with 40% International Travel. . An established UK engineering business is seeking an Electrical Service & Commissioning Engineer. This role has been created to consolidate service and commissioning responsibilities into a single, dedicated position, reducing reliance on design engineers and providing focused technical support to customers. The company designs and supplies highly engineered process equipment into demanding, regulated industries, with a strong order book and significant international customer base.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role combining commissioning of new equipment with service, fault-finding, and refurbishment support.
- Commissioning and process optimisation of new and refurbished equipment at customer sites
- Electrical fault-finding and modification of PLC and HMI software
- Servicing, troubleshooting, and breakdown support on installed equipment
- Carrying out site surveys, making technical recommendations, and preparing parts lists
- Supporting FAT activities when UK-based (approx. 60% of time)
- Producing clear written site reports and maintaining accurate records
- Providing out-of-hours customer support as part of a team rota
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to progress service activities
- Training customer operators and maintenance personnel where required
- Working independently on site while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
When not on site, you will support service, spares, and repair activities, including:
- Electrical testing of refurbished equipment
- PLC / control modifications for spares and retrofit orders
- Machine wiring and control panel build as required
- Occasional assistance with basic mechanical tasks
Strong electrical background with service and/or commissioning experience for automated machinery - experience of rotating machines highly advantageous. Confident fault-finding and modifying PLC and HMI systems - Rockwell/Siemens. Comfortable working independently on customer sites. Willing and able to travel internationally. Practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys problem solving. Ideally based within a reasonable commute of West Yorkshire (non-site days are office-based).
Located in West Yorkshire, this role would be commutable from Huddersfield, Bradford, Leeds and surrounding areas.
