As a Calibration Engineer, you will be working in a proactive and collaborative project working environment, providing governance in relation to Quality Management whilst supporting project deliveries. Daily activities will be conducting in accordance with our internal quality management system procedures and processes in line with ISO 9001:2015.
Directly working under the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the internal calibration department supporting the business in calibration, measurement systems, or measurement related activities in accordance with recognised national and internal standards.
Responsibilities- Support maintenance and governance of the ISO 9001:2015 Management systems alongside customer and legislative requirements, ensuring its continuing effectiveness by formal systematic auditing in the function.
- Support the monitoring of the organisations Quality, policies and practices being implemented consistently across the function and verifying compliance to applicable legislation, regulations, standards, and customer requirements is maintained, including providing a service to the relevant value stream in relation to quality aspects of order enquiries and contracts.
- Management of the calibration department, processes, and procedures.
- Management and maintenance of the calibration system.
- Calibration of measuring equipment as required by ISO 9001:2015 and our internal BMS procedures, in accordance with national and internationally recognised standards (BS, EN, DIN, ISO).
- Calibration of measuring equipment using known master gauges in a temperature controlled clean environment:
- Gauges, Air Gauges, Gear and spline gauges, screw gauges, general inspection equipment (Micrometer, Dial test indicator, torque wrenches, verniers, height gauges, stick micrometers), Metrology Equipment.
- Management and liaison with 3rd party accredited calibration laboratories and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to calibrate measuring equipment onsite and offsite such as:
- CMMs, Gear testers, Laser trackers, Laser scanners, surface roughness testers, electronic equipment, flow meters, instrumentation (Noise, vibration, temperature, flow, pressure), torque wrenches, load cells large manual measuring equipment, master gauges, fixed gauges, NDT equipment.
- Produce, communicate, and follow up with monthly departmental calibration recall lists.
- Preparing, reviewing, monitoring, reporting on frequent key performance indicators (K.P.I’s) using industry standard tools and creating reports on aspects of Quality performance, Management review elements, Cost of poor quality (COPQ), process governance, i.e., Histogram, Pareto, or other.
- Working with departments leaders to research, assess and procure the most suitable type and brands of measuring equipment accounting for accuracy, ease of use and cost effectiveness.
- Review of internal and external calibration processes, aiming to continuously improve to maintain a cost-effective service and reduce costs by assessing potential capital investments.
- Providing manufacturing support in the measurement, inspection, and verification of products.
- Support the integration of industry standard quality processes including MSA Studies.
- Storing, maintaining, and reviewing calibration records, contractual documents, and inspection reports.
- Engagement with 3rd party accreditation bodies, customers (external and/or internal) and end users in the verification and delivery of calibration requirements.
