An experienced CCAB/CIMA-qualified Senior Finance Manager is required to join the Income, Contracting & Costing team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. The post reports directly to the Assistant Director of Finance and is responsible for managing all Commissioner contracts and funding streams, delivering an effective costing function and securing NHS income of over £550 million.
The post holder will also play a key role in producing monthly statutory returns to NHS England, ensuring high‑quality reconciliation and financial reporting, business planning, and providing expert advice to the Divisional Teams.
Responsibilities- Lead robust monitoring and development of all ICB and NHSE Contracts under a range of contractual forms, ensuring effective management of all funding streams.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and manage key relationships with external stakeholders.
- Implement and apply all NHS Payment Scheme guidance; work closely with the Health Informatics Team to develop and monitor planned activity and associated income, providing advice and analysis to Trust staff.
- Lead business planning and set Trust income and activity plans; responsible for robust monthly monitoring and reconciliation of all Trust income; report in statutory returns to NHS England and internal Trust Boards and Committees.
- Provide leadership to the Costing Manager: deliver robust and accurate costing information, meet national costing submissions, and support the Trust's Cost Improvement Programme.
- Assist in activity, capacity and demand planning and contract negotiation with Commissioners.
- Develop new contractual forms as required.
- Support the business planning and budget setting process and the Trust's Cost Improvement Programme.
- Lead the management and development of the Trust's Costing function.
- Build strong relationships and liaise with staff within and external to the Trust, Divisions and finance function to provide contracting and costing support.
- Professional accountancy qualification (CCAB/CIMA member or nearing membership)
- Experience in providing training on specialist financial management
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop junior team members
- Experience of working in a large organisation with complex management structures
- Extensive financial or management accounting experience
- Experience and expertise in a finance management role
- Knowledge of NHS funding flows, NHS Payment Scheme and the financial framework of an NHS Trust
- Experience of a staff management role
- Demonstrated continuing personal / professional development
- Experience working within the NHS / Foundation Trust
- Experience liaising with NHS Commissioners
- Evidence of contribution to Organisational Development agenda
- Knowledge of NHS Costing and PLICs
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, Excel and recognised accounting packages
- Experience of Oracle General Ledger products
- ECDL
- Persuasive, motivational and negotiating skills
- Analytical/problem solving skills
- Plan and organise own work with broad professional policies
- Demonstrate leadership skills
