Social Worker - Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

Join Kirklees Council as a Social Worker at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. This is a permanent role, grade 10‑11, with a salary of £38,220–£44,075 (plus 1.81% weekend enhancement). Hours are 37 per week, with a 5‑day over 7‑day rota requiring weekend work approximately 1 in 7.

Overview

Working in Social Care is challenging and rewarding. You will be part of a busy team working closely with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate timely and safe discharges from hospital. The role supports adults and carers to deliver self‑directed support and self‑assessment, safeguarding, and a positive approach to risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate timely and safe discharge of patients from hospital in partnership with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide self‑directed support and self‑assessment to adults and carers.
  • Safeguard individuals and adopt a positive approach to risk management.
  • Deliver varied, challenging work ensuring individuals achieve personal outcomes.
  • Travel is essential: use a car or council vehicle; a full and valid driving licence is required.
  • Maintain professional development and enhance skills through training and practice.
Requirements
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Social Worker qualification.
  • Experience in hospital social work preferred.
  • Valid driving licence and ability to travel.
  • Duty of a DBS check at the appropriate level.
