Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Educational Mental Health Practitioner to join our Mental Health Support Team covering schools and colleges across Kirklees. The role involves delivering evidence‑based, low‑intensity CBT interventions to children with mild‑to‑moderate mental health concerns, providing training and workshops to schools, and supporting a whole‑school approach to wellbeing.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage referrals, consult with schools, parents and multidisciplinary teams, and make decisions regarding support needs.
- Manage a caseload of children and young people including case planning, intervention delivery and progress monitoring.
- Deliver low‑intensity, outcome‑focused CBT interventions and guided self‑help; provide group and parent‑led interventions where appropriate.
- Lead case‑management supervision and support junior staff.
- Provide workshops for young people, parents/carers and school staff.
- Ensure adherence to referral protocols, signpost unsuitable referrals and liaise with mental health leads to implement a whole‑school approach.
- Support senior leadership and service development initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve the MHST.
- Maintain coherent, accurate clinical records and contribute to service data collection and reporting.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of one year delivering low‑intensity, evidence‑based CBT interventions for mild‑to‑moderate mental health issues.
- Experience working in both health and educational settings.
- Evidence of consultation and liaison with education and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- HEE PG Diploma in Education Mental Health Practice for children & young people (or equivalent).
- Current UK professional registration.
Desirable Experience
- Service development and forging new working relationships within complex interagency frameworks.
- Knowledge of other neuro‑developmental and mental health conditions.
- Experience navigating service pathways and remits.
- Relevant degree qualification.
Knowledge & Skills
- Good working knowledge of nationally agreed routine outcome measures within CYP‑IAPT.
- Knowledge of the educational system and whole‑school approach to mental health.
- Safeguarding, capacity and consent issues with young people.
- Excellent oral and written communication, computer literacy, and ability to keep high‑standard clinical records.
- Ability to deliver group‑based and parent‑led interventions.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with children, young people, parents and partners.
Additional Information
