We are looking for a Pastoral, Therapy and Intervention Officer (Physical and Sensory) to join our Southgate School and play a key role in supporting pupils' regulation, engagement, and physical development.

About

The Role

As a Pastoral, Therapy and Intervention Officer (Physical and Sensory), you will work closely with our Therapy Manager and Occupational Therapist, delivering sensory and physical interventions that help pupils access learning and daily life more effectively.

Key Responsibilities Sensory Support
  • Leading sensory interventions across the school under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Upskilling staff in sensory interventions and regulation strategies.
  • Overseeing sensory circuits and sensory gym interventions.
  • Developing and maintaining the school’s sensory library.
  • Reviewing and updating classroom sensory audits and supporting improved provision across school.
Physical Support
  • Overseeing and helping deliver physiotherapy targets for pupils.
Teamwork & Leadership
  • Supporting colleagues and other members of the Pastoral, Therapy and Intervention Team.
  • Attending meetings and contributing to personalised planning.
  • Delivering whole‑school and individual CPD sessions.
  • Supporting families through coffee mornings and informal engagement opportunities.
About You
  • Passionate about supporting pupils with SEN.
  • Knowledgeable or eager to learn about sensory regulation and physical development.
  • Warm, proactive, and confident working both independently and as part of a team.
  • An excellent communicator, able to support staff, pupils, and families.
  • Organised and reflective, with a commitment to ongoing development.

Previous experience in a SEN setting, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or sensory practice is beneficial but not essential — training and support will be provided.

  • Whilst this role is for 3 days per week we could offer 2 additional days of work providing support across the school if the successful candidate wanted to work 5 days per week.
