We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Substantive Consultant in Anaesthetics with a specialist interest in Paediatrics in Anaesthetics to join our team. The successful candidate will become part of a friendly, dynamic group of Anaesthetic and Intensive Care Consultants. Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust offers a rare opportunity for a fellowship-trained paediatric anaesthetist to develop a specialist children's practice within a progressive district general hospital environment. We currently provide anaesthesia for over 1,400 children each year and, uniquely among UK district general hospitals, undertake elective anaesthesia for infants from 4 weeks of age. The post includes dedicated involvement in infant surgery, MRI under GA, paediatric pre-operative assessment and service development.

With substantial investment planned for a new paediatric admissions and theatre facility, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the next phase of children's surgical services at CHFT.

To provide a high standard of care to any patient for whom you have clinical responsibility.

The successful applicant will take part in the general on call rota, either at Calderdale or Huddersfield depending on service requirements and prior discussion with the Clinical Directors.

Surgical specialties provided by the Trust include ENT, Trauma & Orthopaedics, General, Ophthalmic, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Upper GI (including Bariatrics), Urological (including laparoscopic resections), Colorectal, Robotic and Plastic surgery. Some paediatric work is undertaken within these specialties.

We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients' homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children's and young people's services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.
