Occupational Health Technician – Peripatetic
Locations: Huddersfield
Salary: £26,000–£27,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Travel: Regional travel with regular overnight stays
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Occupational Health Technicians to join a growing peripatetic team. This is a varied role where you’ll travel to client sites in a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), delivering health surveillance services to employees across a range of industries.
You don’t need previous Occupational Health experience. Full training will be provided through a 3-week training and induction programme, followed by ongoing mentoring and support.
The Role
You will work alongside the wider Occupational Health team to deliver high-quality health surveillance and screening services, including:
- Carrying out health surveillance and baseline assessments
- Audiometry and lung function testing
- Recording height, weight, blood pressure and urinalysis results
- Accurately recording medical and screening information
- Maintaining clinical equipment and ensuring it is clean and fit for use
- Providing accurate biometric information to support clinical decision-making
- Supporting health promotion activities
- Working independently while maintaining close communication with the wider clinical team
About You
We’re looking for someone who is organised, approachable and confident working independently, with excellent communication and time-management skills.
This role could suit candidates from a range of backgrounds, including:
- Healthcare Support Workers
- Emergency Care Assistants
- Ambulance Technicians or Assistants
- Emergency Care Technicians
- Army Medics
- Sports Science graduates with experience carrying out baseline measurements
You will need to demonstrate:
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- The ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
- A professional and approachable manner
- An understanding of GDPR and confidentiality
- A willingness to travel and stay away from home regularly
Driving & Travel Requirements
A full UK manual driving licence is essential. You must have held your licence for at least 12 months and be 21 or over.
You will be required to provide a driving licence share code.
The role involves significant travel, including regular overnight stays. You should be comfortable being away from home for approximately 3 weeks out of every 4, with weekends at home.
You must also have suitable facilities to park the Mobile Medical Unit at or near your home.
During the initial period of employment, you may need to use your own vehicle or a company hire car until your company van is available.
