Role: Facilities Manager

Location: Huddersfield

Salary: £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Buy It Direct is a leading UK e‑commerce retailer, built from the ground up to become one of the UK's largest and fastest‑growing online retailers. As our operations continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced, driven Facilities Manager to play a key role in maintaining and developing facilities and Health and Safety across our sites.

As Facilities Team Manager, you will take ownership of the day‑to‑day management of our buildings, grounds, infrastructure and group health & safety. Working closely with the Head of Facilities, you will ensure our sites are safe, compliant, efficient, and maintained to a high standard. This is a hands‑on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives on responsibility, continuous improvement, and people management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day‑to‑day facilities, health and safety, and maintenance operations across the site
  • Ensure buildings, grounds, and infrastructure are safe, compliant, and well‑maintained
  • Manage, develop, and motivate the facilities maintenance team
  • Take ownership of health & safety, ensuring compliance with legislation, audits, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
  • Oversee statutory checks, inspections, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Manage contractors, sourcing quotes and ensuring value for money
  • Maintain the electronic job portal, scheduling work and tracking progress
  • Monitor KPIs and provide regular performance updates
  • Ensure correct tools, equipment, materials, and PPE are in place
  • Maintain SOPs and training records for the facilities team
About You
  • Proven experience in Facilities Management or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance practices and UK health & safety regulations
  • Confident people manager with excellent organisational skills
  • Experienced in contractor management and facilities systems
  • NEBOSH qualification is essential
