Site Operative

We are recruiting a Site Operative to join our team at our new metals recycling site in Huddersfield.

This is a hands‑on operational role supporting the safe and efficient processing of ferrous and non‑ferrous materials. You will work across the yard and processing areas, assisting with sorting, segregation, loading support and general site duties.

This role is physically demanding and requires strong safety awareness within a busy industrial environment.

• Sort and segregate ferrous and non‑ferrous materials as instructed
• Assist with loading and unloading vehicles
• Support material grading and stockpile management
• Maintain housekeeping standards across yard and processing areas
• Keep walkways and working areas clear and safe
• Support plant operators and supervisors with operational tasks
• Report hazards, defects or non‑compliant materials
• Follow instructions from site management

• Wear appropriate PPE at all times
• Follow site Health & Safety policies and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Remain vigilant around moving plant and vehicle movements
• Report near misses, unsafe acts or environmental concerns
• Support compliance with environmental permit conditions

• Physically fit and able to undertake manual work
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety in an industrial setting
• Reliable and punctual
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Experience with in metal recycling or heavy industry
• Basic knowledge of ferrous and non‑ferrous materials
• Experience working in a yard environment
