Join Our Thriving Team at Lubrizol as a Shift Process Operator

Are you an experienced manufacturing or process operator looking for your next challenge? At our Huddersfield manufacturing site, you'll play a vital role in producing specialist additives used in coatings and industrial applications around the world.

Working within a COMAH-regulated chemical manufacturing environment, you'll operate plant equipment, maintain high safety and quality standards, and help deliver products that support industries including paints, coatings, plastics, printing inks, wood finishes, and metal coatings.

How You'll Make an Impact

As a Shift Process Operator, you will:

  • Safely operate manufacturing plant equipment to produce products to specification and production requirements
  • Prepare and charge raw materials into manufacturing processes while maintaining strict quality and safety standards
  • Receive and offload bulk tank deliveries and ensure materials are correctly identified and stored
  • Package and discharge finished products into a variety of customer packaging formats, ensuring accurate labelling and product integrity
  • Support preventative maintenance activities, alarm and trip testing, instrument calibration, and basic multi-skilled maintenance tasks
  • Troubleshoot production issues and work collaboratively to maintain plant performance and meet production schedules
  • Maintain accurate production documentation, stock records, audit documentation, and operating logs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain high workplace housekeeping standards through 5S practices
  • Provide operational flexibility by supporting multiple production areas as required
  • Assist with onboarding and training new employees on safe operating procedures and plant requirements
Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
  • City & Guilds Process Plant Operations (PPO), NVQ Level 2, or equivalent qualification
OR
  • Accredited multi-skilled apprenticeship
OR
  • Nationally recognised trade apprenticeship supported by relevant industrial experience

In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Experience with in a chemical, biological, manufacturing, or process industry environment
  • Knowledge of automated manufacturing systems such as Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Ability to interpret plant data and identify appropriate corrective actions
  • Good computer skills, including experience with SAP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills
  • High attention to detail and record-keeping accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Physical capability to undertake manual handling, charging, maintenance, and operational activities
  • Forklift truck experience is advantageous
