Para educators support a variety of positions throughout the school district, working with Classroom Teachers, Reading Specialists, School Psychologists, Librarians, and Behavioral Program Teachers. They work directly with one or more SPED Liaisons to help students achieve IEP goals and may support other school staff. $500.00 sign‑on bonus for hires in the 2025‑2026 school year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work with SPED Liaisons and teachers to implement IEP accommodations.
- Support students on IEPs to facilitate success in the educational setting.
- Assist students in completing assignments and participating in classroom activities.
- Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures, providing guidance and emotional support.
- Provide positive feedback and facilitate small‑group or one‑to‑one instruction.
- Collect data to support IEP goals, objectives, and behavior plans.
- Arrive at school promptly and may perform bus, lunch, recess, hall duties, and other tasks.
- Maintain a professional attitude and develop relationships with students, staff, and the community.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff orally and in writing.
- Assist with other duties as requested by the Principal.
- Follow written or oral directions of SPED Liaison, teachers, and principal.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and act as a mandated reporter.
- Implement emergency procedures when required.
- Participate in professional development programs.
- Meet professional expectations in a public school environment.
- Indoor work in a public school setting with reasonable noise levels.
- Occasional outdoor supervision during recess or special activities.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, or twist.
- Use of iPad, Chromebook, or similar devices.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- At least 48 credit hours of post‑secondary education, or
- High school diploma/GED with a rigorous assessment (Parapro or Work Keys).
- 10 months, 183 work days.
- 3 personal days, 12 sick days prorated.
- Salaried position over 26 paychecks plus lump sum in June.
- $500.00 sign‑on bonus payable after 40 calendar days.
- Referral bonus of $500 if new employee remains for more than 3 months.
