At Jacobs our Senior Telecommunications Engineer
s work on various projects as assigned by a Department Manager or Lead Engineer. This position will play a role in the entire design process including but not limited to:

• preliminary assessments
• concept creation
• internal and external problem resolution
• drawing and specification production
• customer and vendor accessibility
• Being the EoR for designs
• Providing Coverage for Project leads
• Depending on bandwidth, this person may also lead projects
• Work on several concurrent projects and ensure projects are completed on time
• Provide technical design leadership of systems for data center buildings, including structured cabling systems, wireless, audio-visual, and other low‑voltage systems
• Mentor other telecom team members
• Lead BIM designers in preparing engineering drawings
• Create or modify DIV 27 specifications
• Conduct site visits
• Review technical documents
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Sign and seal telecommunications design packages
• Identify processes to make the department run more efficiently

• Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college
• Minimum 8 years’ experience actively designing or leading designs for Telecommunications structured cabling systems
• Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
• Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70 and its application to telecommunications structured cabling systems
• Proficiency with Bluebeam
• Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers and clients
• Excellent project management skills
• Familiarity with responding to RFPs
• Experience in providing quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others
• Experience with startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems
• Experienced in creating a budget for a project
• Experienced in creating and maintaining a project schedule
• Experienced in identifying and mitigating company risk
• PE license and the ability to obtain multiple PE licenses is required

• 4 years Telecommunications design experience in Data Centers
• Experience working on other low‑voltage systems, including security, audio/visual, and wireless
• Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms
• Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls systems and security systems
• Thorough knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures
• Credential as an RCDD
