The typical base pay range for this position is $80,000 – $120,000 per year, dependent on location and qualification. Final offers are based on experience, skills, and other job‑related factors. Additional rewards may include discretionary bonuses and equity awards.
Component Engineer– Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Component Engineer with 3+ years in mechanical component design and development within regulated manufacturing environments. Proficiency in CAD, FEA, and cross‑functional collaboration is required. The role is based in our Hudson, WI office and operates on a hybrid schedule.
Roles and Responsibilities- Develop and maintain mechanical documentation for standard components within designated databases.
- Provide technical guidance for new component development in collaboration with Product Managers and the Center of Competence.
- Identify and evaluate cost‑saving opportunities related to components and manufacturing processes.
- Guide technical designs to ensure compliance with GEA standards, customer specifications, and applicable regulations, including USDA and 3‑A.
- Coordinate project activities with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders, including third‑party suppliers and procurement.
- Resolve engineering design and testing challenges.
- Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and manufacturability.
- Participate in design review meetings for key project components.
- Collaborate with fabrication shops to optimize manufacturability and reduce overall costs.
- Develop component technical specifications and actively participate in design reviews.
- Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
- Create and maintain technical operating manuals detailing equipment operating characteristics.
- Specify purchased components and support procurement during price negotiations.
- Coordinate project‑specific structural engineering requirements.
- Create and maintain item requirements within the ERP system.
- Develop spare parts lists for assigned components.
- Participate in USDA and 3‑A work groups as required.
- Provide technical mentoring, leadership, and training to project teams.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the line manager.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Food Science, or a related field).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in dairy component technology or a related industry.
- Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD and/or Inventor) and FEA.
- Knowledge of 3‑A and USDA regulations.
- Familiarity with structural engineering is preferred.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
- Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and methodical.
- Self‑motivated and capable of working independently.
